Why do you get free web hosting sites and some you have to pay for?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Web Hosting Sites

How do the free ones make money? I have been using http://www.sqweebs.com fo my first site and i have had no problems with it. My site is http://travel-ny.sqweebs.com please tell me what you think.

"free" hosting has limited bandwidth, limited services, etc and usually has banners and advertisements on an exception would be blog hosting on choseit.com and although thier email customer care is th best i have ever seen even they are currently running ad tests for an unknown reason atm.

You should findgood hosting review sites by looking at places like http;//hostingrefuee.com and top 15 hosting etc google is really good for that..

Paid = no ads and customer service
Free = ads and lower customer care

You generally get additional services on pay sites, often better technical support, some will even assist with page building. Also ogften get better email services, and even a dedicated mail server for your domain name.

Some of them force you to have advertising on your site, they make money out of it every time someone clicks on the ad.

If they don’t have any advertising or haven’t been around for long, then it is very likely they will go bust and you will lose your website and all of your files.

"free" hosting has limited bandwidth, limited services, no support and so on; moreover, many (but not every) of them force the site to show ads.
the ones which do not so, can earn money with traffic on hosted sites, or/and selling information gathered through hosted sites…
when we use that kind of site, it would be better we’d read carefully their policies and "license"; surely in them we can find clues to their way of making money hosting us for free.

    Hi,

The server that you are on seems to be very slow, the page loads but the images are taking a minute or more to load after this. It gives the user a very poor experience and doesn’t display your site in a good light, for instance if this was a business site it would give your customers a bad impression of you instantly which could be more damaging and far more costly than spending a few pounds/dollars a month on some quality web hosting.

These free services tend to be slow and unreliable with poor support, if you are having any issues and contact support for help they will be non existant really. With the low cost of paid hosting these days it is false economy to skip on this if you are trying to build any site that you want to receive a number of visitors, a slow loading site and poor user experience dooms it to failure no matter how good the content.

    Regards,

    Darryl
