We're going to find oil getting more expensive, and electric cars are far more efficient even when you include the efficiency of power stations etc.
However, the problem is batteries. In the next 20-30 years i think we'll see a lot more plug in hybrids like the upcoming Prius and Chevrolet Volt… but they won't take up until batteries can store at least 3, probably at least 5 times the power they do at the moment.
