Did you try running IDLE after stopping the Firewall service? Your personal Firewall might be the cause for this. I don't use any other firewall service, and IDLE runs fine. I guess this problem is caused, when IDLE tries to access some port on the system, and the Firewall blocks it. Hope this helps
